The City of Chula Vista offices and most facilities will be closed on Tuesday, March 31 in observance of Cesar Chavez Day. Closures include all city recreation centers, pools, libraries, and the Chula Vista Nature Center.
Public safety will not be affected by the holiday schedule. Emergency 9-1-1 calls, and police and fire stations will provide regular daily 24-hour services. Public works services including streets and sewers will be available on an emergency-only basis.
Trash removal in the city of Chula Vista will not be delayed and will run on a regular schedule. In addition, the Household Waste facility will be open on Wednesday, April 1.
Cesar Chavez Day was established to honor the founder of the United Farm Workers of America. Chavez led the effort to organize migrant farm workers throughout America and is credited with improving pay and labor conditions for hundreds of thousands of agriculture workers.
