Free lunches and snacks will be offered this summer for children 1 - 18 years of age at three recreation centers in the City of Chula Vista. The Loma Verde Recreation Center, Otay Recreation Center and Parkway Community Center will offer the first-come, first-served lunches and/or snacks on center-based schedules of dates and times.
“Our Recreation Department is pleased to present this important program during the summer months for any child who meets the age requirement,” said Recreation Director Buck Martin. According to the program guidelines, no food can leave the building.
The lunches and snacks will be offered on Mondays through Fridays (except holidays) at the centers during the following dates and times.
Loma Verde Recreation Center, 1420 Loma Lane, (619) 691-5082:
- Dates---June 15 through July 24
- Lunch---12 noon to 1:30 p.m.
- Snack---3 to 3:30 p.m.
Otay Recreation Center, 3554 Main St., (619) 476-5325:
- Dates--- June 15 through July 24
- Lunch---12:30 to 1 p.m.
- Snack---3 to 3:30 p.m.
Parkway Community Center, 373 Park Way, (619) 691-5083:
- Dates--- June 15 through July 24
- Lunch---12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
This Summer Free Lunch Program is offered through cooperation between the USDA Healthy Families Program, the Chula Vista Elementary School District and the City of Chula Vista Recreation Department. For more information, interested persons may call their local recreation center.
