Walk, run or dash to a fun-filled festival for pets and their families! Pet Fest and Doggie Dash 2009 is returning to Memorial Park in downtown Chula Vista on Saturday, June 20 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
“The goal is to celebrate and benefit the animals in our community. Pet Fest gives pets and their families the opportunity to socialize and have fun while learning together,” said Scott Tulloch, Assistant City Manager. “Pet Fest also reaches out to the less fortunate animals in the community by offering low-cost vaccinations, and on-site spaying and neutering services provided by the Spay Neuter Action Project. Best yet, all event proceeds will benefit the Chula Vista Animal Care Facility’s non-profit organization, H.E.A.R.T.”
The day kicks off at 8 a.m. with on-site registration for the Doggie Dash Run/Walk, a 1.5-mile run/walk for charity around Memorial Park. Fees are $15 per entry and each participant will receive an event t-shirt. All pets must be leashed to participate. The race begins promptly at 9 a.m.
The festival includes obedience demonstrations and a pet fashion show featuring adorable adoptees from the Chula Vista Animal Care Facility. Contests for the cutest, ugliest, biggest, smallest and most talented pets in Chula Vista will be held throughout the day. The event will also highlight special presentations, music, refreshments and plenty of products and treats from over 25 pet-related vendors and services.
Looking for a furry friend to make your house a home? Adoptable dogs from the Chula Vista Animal Care Facility will be on-site waiting to meet a new pet parent. Employees and volunteers from the facility will be available to answer any questions about the adoptees, the adoption process and pet care.
Pet Fest 2009 is sponsored by PetCo, the Third Avenue Village Association, City of Chula Vista, Cox Communications, and H.E.A.RT of Chula Vista. To register for the Doggie Dash, please visit www.thirdavenuevillage.com
