The City of Chula Vista is preparing to welcome home their local heroes, the Park View Little League team, from the Little League World Series with a homecoming celebration. A rally is set for Friday, September 4, in Memorial Park and Bowl at 6 p.m.
“Working their way into the World Series is quite an achievement for the Park View Little League team. Bringing home the championship trophy would be extra special. The City is excited to celebrate the team’s accomplishment. The rally will be an opportunity for fans and supporters to congratulate Chula Vista’s hometown heroes. The Chula Vista City Council and our residents are very proud of this team and their coaches,” said Chula Vista Mayor Cheryl Cox.
Escorted by a Chula Vista Police Department motorcade, the team will board a Chula Vista Fire Department ladder truck for a short procession through western Chula Vista. The truck will depart F Street Fire Station heading north on Fourth Avenue, turning right heading east on E Street and will proceed south down Third Avenue, and turning right on Park Way. The procession will end at Memorial Park and Bowl at approximately 6 p.m. where crowds of
cheering fans and the Castle Park High School Trojan marching band will greet the players. Mayor Cheryl Cox, local dignitaries, Park View Little League team representatives and other special guests will honor the players with a brief recognition ceremony.
The event will conclude with food, music and good cheer. Memorial Park and Bowl is located at 373 Park Way in Chula Vista.
Parking is expected to be difficult and the public is encouraged to use the Third Avenue parking structure located at Third Avenue and F Street. Parking is free. Park Way will be closed to traffic from Third to Fourth Avenues from approximately 3 to 8 p.m.
