The City of Chula Vista will welcome home the World Champion Park View Little League team with a homecoming celebration at 6 p.m. Friday, September 4 at Southwestern College’s Devore Stadium, 900 Otay Lakes Road.
“Our boys of summer are world champions and we’re going to throw a world-class celebration for them,” said Chula Vista Mayor Cheryl Cox. “The Blue Bombers have lifted the spirits of the city and the entire region, and we can’t wait to cheer for them.”
Gates at Devore Stadium will open to the public at 4 p.m. and parking is available at the stadium. A new site was selected to ensure the safety of all attending and one that would be large enough to accommodate them.
The Park View All-Stars, dubbed the Blue Bombers for their explosive offense, won the Little League World Series Sunday, defeating Taiwan 6-3. The welcome home rally will provide fans an opportunity to congratulate Chula Vista's hometown heroes. Mayor Cox, city leaders and local dignitaries will honor the team in a brief ceremony.
