Chula Vista Fire Dept. Open House: Tours, Demonstrations And More Set For October 3
Chula Vista Fire Department’s annual open house for Fire Prevention Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3. Features at this year’s event include live fire department demonstrations, fire equipment displays, and fire prevention exhibits. All of the activities will take place at Fire Station #4, located at 850 Paseo Ranchero in the Rancho del Rey neighborhood just north of East H Street.

“We invite members of our community to join us for this annual open house,” said Fire Chief Dave Hanneman. “In addition, we will give residents a first-hand look at some of our firefighting techniques and offer valuable fire prevention information.”

Firefighters, prevention personnel, and Fire Explorers will be participating in this special event. In addition, the event will include free blood pressure checks by A.M.R Ambulance Service and information booths from the Burn Institute, Fire Safe Council of San Diego, Citizens Adversity Support Team (CAST), and the American Red Cross, as well as free rides on the “Little Fire Truck.” Highlights for children will be the fire safety program in a specially designed “house”, face painting and balloons.

Chula Vista’s annual open house is scheduled during National Fire Prevention Week, which commemorates the Great Chicago Fire of Oct. 8,1871.

The Chula Vista Fire Department currently has nine stations located in all of the city’s major regions. Each year the department responds to more than 14,900 calls, ranging from medical aids to working fires. The department also has a very active fire prevention division which offers education for school classes, business safety inspections and fire safety demonstrations.

To receive general fire information, call (619) 691-5055. For emergencies, call 9-1-1.
