Mariya Anton has been selected to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Chula Vista Animal Care Facility effective immediately. Anton, a City employee for 18 years, has been serving as Interim Animal Care Facility Manager for the past eight months. She continued to provide services to the Chula Vista Public Library as the Administrative Services Coordinator while acting as Interim Manager at the shelter. Anton holds a Masters Degree and a Bachelors Degree in Public Administration from San Diego State University.

Assistant City Manager Scott Tulloch said, “Mariya is passionate about the animals at the facility and has implemented some great ideas to improve operations at the facility.” Anton, who will receive a yearly salary of $102,793, will oversee 22 employees and administer a department budget of $2.4 million.
