|The Chula Vista Recreation Department will begin registration for the Winter 2010-2011 Youth Coed Basketball League on Monday, September 27. Cost is $95 for residents and $119 for non-residents for the first child. For a second child or more, the cost is $75 for residents and $94 for non-residents. The coed league is designed for youth born between the years 1997 â€“ 2004. Registration is accepted, on a space available basis, at all Chula Vista Recreation Centers on a walk-in basis, mail-in and online. Please note a nominal/non-refundable â€śconvenience feeâ€ť is charged for all online registrations provided by an online registration vendor. Limited financial assistance applications will be accepted through October 9.
The Youth Winter Coed Basketball League will be geographically based -- East and West. The Salt Creek Center will be the headquarters for the Eastern Division, and the Parkway Center will be the headquarters for the Western Division. Players are permitted to register in either geographic area regardless of residency.
Games will be played on both West (Parkway and Otay) and East (Montevalle, Salt Creek, and
Veterans) locations during the regular season. Similarly for practices, the West Division will practice at Parkway and Otay and the East Division will practice at Montevalle, Salt Creek and Veterans.
Practices will begin the week of November 15 and will be held one to two times per week (Monday-Friday, 4-8 p.m.) depending on the availability of the volunteer coaches. Requests for children to be placed on the same team for car pool reasons and requests for specific coaches and practice days cannot be honored. All players must attend the player evaluations, no exceptions. Exact days, dates, and times will be listed on the registration receipt.
Important dates to note are: first game: December 4; last game: February 19; playoffs begin: February 26; and championship games: March 12.
