|Save money and help the environment by checking out an Electricity Usage Monitor from the Chula Vista Public Library. The "Kill a Watt," monitors make it possible to find out what it costs to run certain appliances. Televisions, stereos, air conditioners, toaster ovens, microwaves, refrigerators, computers, heaters, games, and washing machines can be plugged into the monitor for an accurate reading.
The library will loan the devices to anyone who has a Chula Vista Library card. The Kill a Watt monitors are available at the Civic Center (365 F Street), and South (389 Orange Avenue) branches and can be borrowed for a three-week period.
The City's Department of Conservation and Environmental Services provided the monitors to the libraries for easy access by patrons while they check out books, DVDs or CDs. Having the monitors at the public library makes it easy for residents to use them without having to actually purchase one.
