Most City of Chula Vista offices will be closed for the holidays beginning Dec. 24 and continuing through the week between Christmas and New Year's. All offices will reopen on Jan.3. The City will observe the following service schedules between Dec. 24 and Jan. 3:
Police and Fire: Emergency 9-1-1 response will remain fully operational; police officers and firefighters will maintain normal schedules with the police lobby closed Dec. 24, 25, 31 and Jan. 1.
Animal Care Facility will be closed Dec. 24-27, open Dec. 28-31, and closed Jan. 1-3; open regular hours on Jan. 4.
Libraries: The Civic Center Branch and South Chula Vista Branch will close at 3 p.m. on Dec. 23 through Jan. 2. Both libraries will reopen on Jan. 3. The EastLake Branch will be closed Dec. 22-Jan. 3.
Recreation Centers and Parks: All City parks will be open during posted hours, however the park reservation office in Public Works will be closed. With the exception of Parkway Gym which is open Dec. 20 and re-opens Jan. 2 from 12-4 p.m., all recreation/community centers and the Parkway and Loma Verde Swimming Pool will be closed Dec. 19 through Jan. 3.
Public Works Operations: The office at 1800 Maxwell Road will be closed. To report problems or emergencies concerning streets or sewers, call (619) 691-5151. For non-emergencies, please call (619) 397-6000 and leave a message.
Household Hazardous Waste Facility: The Household Hazardous Waste Drop-off Facility will be closed Dec. 22, 25, 29 and Jan. 1. It will reopen on Wednesday, January 5, 2011.
City Hall/Civic Center Complex: Administrative offices at 276 Fourth Ave. (Mayor/Council, City Attorney, City Clerk, City Manager, Human Resources, Redevelopment and Housing, Fire Administration, Fire Prevention, Development Services, Engineering, and Finance) will be closed to the public. Exceptions include emergency inspections for gas line repairs, which may be requested (24 hour turn-around) by calling (619) 691-5009. The building permit counter will be closed and routine inspections will not be performed.
The only exception to the above closures is the Chula Vista Nature Center, which is open every day except December 25 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
