|The City of Chula Vista Finance Department announces a new business licensing system has been implemented just in time for the annual business licensing renewal season. The new system provides faster customer service and convenience.
Over 10,300 renewal notices are being generated and mailed to business owners in the next few days. As part of the initial setup for the new system, business owners are asked to validate and/or update existing information in the City's database, including email addresses. This process will provide the City with the accurate information needed to calculate the amount of tax owed.
In addition to business licensing, the new system allows billing for Fire Company Inspection Program (FCIP) fees and fire permit fees, and also to administer the City's free mandatory energy assessment program. This consolidation will provide better customer service, maximize efficiency and avoid unnecessary mailing and processing expenses.
All business owners are encouraged to renew their license online at www.chulavistaca.gov. With the impending layoffs in January, fewer staff will be available to process mail-in payments, respond to phone inquiries and assist customers over the counter. The online system, which is very user friendly and flexible, prompts the user to input certain information and then calculates the amount due. Businesses who do not want to use a credit card to pay can simply use the system to calculate the amount owed and then pay by mail.
