|Get set to walk, stroll or run at the U.S. Olympic Training Center on Saturday, May 21 as the center opens its gates for the third annual Chula Vista Community 5K Fun Run/Walk! Held at one of the most inspirational locations in San Diego County, this family-friendly event offers participants the opportunity to run along-side Olympians through the exclusive Olympic Village -- all to benefit a great cause.
The U.S. Olympic Training Center, Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center and other sponsors have joined forces to benefit four local Chula Vista charitable organizations: Friends of the Chula Vista Nature Center, Friends of Chula Vista Library, Friends of Chula Vista Park and Recreation, and H.E.A.R.T. for the Chula Vista Animal Care Facility. As a part of the Chula Vista Centennial Celebration, a community expo and celebration with food, educational booths, fun and music will follow the race.
“This a great day for the community to come together as a family, run together, laugh together and watch many of our top Olympic hopefuls train on these beautiful venues here at the Olympic Training Center,” said Tracy Lamb, Director for the U.S. Olympic Training Center.
The event is open to all ages, including walkers, families, classrooms, community groups and corporate teams. Strollers and dogs on leashes are welcome. Registration is now open at www.chulavistaca.gov/goto/funrun. On-site registration begins at 6:30 a.m. on race day, with race time at 8 a.m.
