Recreation Centers Extend Hours for Summer

The City of Chula Vista Recreation Department will be temporarily expanding its hours of operation at all facilities beginning in June. Through a $10,000 donation provided by the Friends of Chula Vista Parks & Recreation, all recreation centers will be open from 12 to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The extended hours will be in effect June 6 through July 15.

This expanded programming will provide daily recreational opportunities to youth who are on a six-week summer break from Chula Vista public schools. It will include both drop-in and organized play and will vary by center. Affected recreation centers include Heritage, Loma Verde, Montevalle, Otay, Parkway, Salt Creek and Veterans.

In addition, City pools will be open for weekday recreational swim on the following dates: Monday, Wednesday and Friday at Loma Verde, 1420 Loma Lane, from 12:30 2 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday at Parkway, 385 Park Way, from 2 - 3:15 p.m. Funding for the pools was provided by Las Primeras and the South Bay Expressway.

At the conclusion of the expanded summer programming, the Recreation Department will return to its regular, two-day per week operations.

For information regarding recreation programs, please check the Recreation Department website at www.chulavistaca.gov/City_Services/Community_Services/Recreation/Default.asp.
