|Summer is here and the Chula Vista Recreation Department offers many recreational opportunities for the family. With 11 recreational facilities, over 60 parks with 600 acres of park land and many free or low-cost recreational classes and events, there is something for everyone. Funding for summer hours of operation partially comes from grants and donations provided by Friends of Chula Vista Parks & Recreation and the Chula Vista Police Athletic League.
“Our Recreation Department is grateful to be able to offer many essential recreational services to our greater community during the summer months, from free lunches to free fitness classes, summer camps to Zumba classes,” said Recreation Director Buck Martin. “July is recognized as Parks & Recreation month and we want to make an effort to promote the new California Parks & Recreation Society slogan, ‘Parks Make Life Better,’ to encourage our community to get outside and be active.”
