Chula Vista Middle School Singers to Perform Live with P.O.D.
Students from Chula Vista Middle School’s choir will perform live with multi-platinum and Grammy-nominated recording artists P.O.D. at the City of Chula Vista’s 100th birthday celebration on the grounds of the scenic U.S. Olympic Training Center, Chula Vista this Saturday, October 15. The all-day festival is free and open to the public.

Following a grand fireworks show that will light up the night sky, P.O.D. will take the stage at approximately 8:15 p.m. and plan to ignite the citywide celebration with explosive hits like Alive, Boom and the song that will showcase Chula Vista’s choir, Youth of A Nation.

“The kids are very excited to receive this opportunity to perform with such a successful band and one that means so much to this community,” said choir director Tony Atienza. “Imagine being part of a full-fledged rock concert by the age of 11 or 12 – what a thrill.”

P.O.D. has strong roots in Chula Vista and throughout San Diego. Lead singer Sonny Sandoval, guitarist Marcos Curiel and drummer Wuv Bernardo, along with bassist and Cleveland native Traa Daniels are proud to bring the band home for a captivating performance in one of Chula Vista’s most scenic venues.

Known as a hard working band, P.O.D.’s performances are electrifying, blending reggae grooves, Latin beats, hip-hop and powerful rock chords that send a universal message through their music.

P.O.D. just finished the Rock Allegiance Tour this summer and is now back in the studio with Grammy nominated music producer Howard Benson (Credits include: 3 Doors Down, Creed, Daughtry & Kelly Clarkson).

P.O.D’s set will be the culmination of a day-long festival that is open to the public. Additional bands and performances will offer something for every generation and musical taste throughout the day. Residents and guests from around the region are invited to come out and enjoy family activities, a free car show, carnival, military flyover, skydivers and a wide variety of food and drinks served all day.

Event goers are encouraged to visit official Chula Vista Centennial website at and “like” the centennial Facebook page.
