The Chula Vista Animal Care Facility (CVACF) has implemented two programs to help make pet care affordable and more convenient for Chula Vista residents. Due to pet over-population, owners are encouraged to have their pets spayed or neutered. Qualifying low income residents can sign up to drop off their dog or cat and have the procedure completed in one day for free. Call (619) 691-5226 for more information and to sign up. Proof of residency and income is required prior to day of surgery. Also with the assistance of the city’s Information Technology Services Department, the CVACF now offers online pet license registration for first time licenses and renewals. By law, dogs are required to be licensed as well as being vaccinated against rabies. Go to www.cvacf.org for pet licensing information. The CVACF is open Tuesday-Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. with adoptions processed until 4:00 p.m., and Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. with adoptions processed until 3:00 p.m. The shelter is located at 130 Beyer Way. For more information, please call (619) 691-5123.
