|“Dream Big – Read,” Chula Vista Public Library’s summer reading program, kicks off June 4 through July 14. Open to all ages, participants can read for prizes and enjoy crafts, music, dance, stories, and more. Children can keep their reading skills strong while they laugh along with Krypton Yvonne’s space travel or enjoy book time with Ronald McDonald. Teens and adults can take a Zumba or Tai Chi class or attend a career workshop.
All summer reading activities are free. For more details on what’s happening throughout summer at the three library locations, check the Summer Reading Calendar at www.chulavistalibrary.com or call your closest branch for information: Civic Center Library, (619) 691-5069; South Chula Vista Library, (619) 585-5755, or Otay Ranch, (619) 397-5740.
In addition, free lunches and snacks will be available for children 1-18 years of age from June 4 -29, Monday through Friday, at the Civic Center Library (365 F Street) and South Chula Vista Library (389 Orange Avenue). Offered on a first-come, first-served basis, both libraries will serve lunch from 12 to 1 p.m. and snack from 3 to 3:30 p.m.
Many of the exciting summer reading activities are scheduled at either 11 a.m. or 2 p.m. so children can enjoy some fun before and after they eat lunch. The library’s free lunch and snack program is offered through cooperation with the Chula Vista Elementary School District and the Seamless Summer Feeding Program, provided through the California Department of Education.
