Not sure what to do with the old computer sitting in your garage? Or how about the unwanted paint cans you no longer use? And what about that old prescription that is now expired? The City of Chula Vista Environmental Services Section is hosting an event to help you dispose of these items and more on Saturday, September 29 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Castle Park High School, 1395 Hilltop Drive (enter on East Rienstra Street).

Each year, tons of hazardous materials end up in landfills and storm drains. By properly disposing household hazardous waste, this problem can be alleviated. Items that can be disposed for free at the event include household chemicals, electronics and batteries. No gasoline or tanks, pesticides, fertilizers, pool chemicals, thinners, degreasers, or sharps will be accepted.

In addition, the City has partnered with the Chula Vista Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration to collect expired or unused medicine. This is part of National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day and will be held at the same time and location.
