|The City of Chula Vista is pleased to announce the appointment of Kristi McClure to the position of Assistant Director of Recreation. Following an extensive country-wide search, McClure was selected to the new position and will work closely with Betty Waznis, Director of Library and Recreation, overseeing 17 full time employees, and 190 seasonal, temporary and part-time employees.
McClure has over 18 years experience in municipal government including management positions in recreation, parks and human resources. She previously held the titles of Deputy Director of Community and Personnel Services and also Community Services Manager for the City of Sierra Madre. She also served as Director of Community Services for the City of Placentia. McClure has worked as a part-time lecturer for the College of Health and Human Services, Recreation and Leisure Studies Department at California State University Long Beach. She has obtained degrees in Recreation and Leisure studies, Public Administration, and a certificate in Human Resources Management.
In addition to her work experience and education, McClure currently serves as leadership chair for the National Recreation and Park Association Pacific Southwest Regional Network, and has held leadership positions with the California Park and Recreation Society. She has received awards at both the national and local levels for her leadership and commitment to the recreation profession.
