|Chula Vista residents, ages 21 and older, are invited to participate in a series of playwriting sessions to be held at the Chula Vista Civic Center Library. Participants will attend eight workshops on the craft of playwriting, culminating in a reading of their 10-minute plays performed by professional actors at The Old Globe. Upon completion of the program, participants will receive a $300 stipend and free admission to several future Globe performances.
The Old Globe partners with local organizations to identify workshop participants. This is the first time the Chula Vista Public Library has been invited to be a partner. “We are thrilled to be able to support The Old Globe Community Voices workshops at the Chula Vista Public Library,” said Library Director Betty Waznis. “We love to host exciting and unique events in our libraries to enhance the cultural lives of our residents and provide them with one-of-a-kind opportunities."
Applications to attend the workshop series are available from Desiree Nash at dnash@TheOldGlobe.org. Applications are also available at the Civic Center Library, located at 365 F Street. Space is limited to ten participants on a first come, first served basis.
The workshops are scheduled each Thursday, April 18 through June 6, from 4 to 6 p.m. Funding for the program is provided by a grant from The James Irvine Foundation. For more information, please contact Debbie Taylor at (619) 585-5772 or by email firstname.lastname@example.org.
