Chula Vista City Manager Jim Sandoval will present the draft Fiscal Year 2013-2014 budget at the Tuesday, May 28, City Council Meeting. The meeting starts at 2 p.m. and is held in Council Chambers at City Hall, 276 Fourth Avenue.

The proposed $127 million budget funds the highest level of municipal services based on available resources, makes progress on key programs and projects, continues stabilizing the City’s financial base, and maintains a balanced General Fund budget. The proposed budget identifies normal operating costs, connects funding to the citywide strategic plan, incorporates department funding priorities, and targets expenditures to service levels reported in the Program Summary.

Per the City Charter, the City Manager is required to submit the proposed budget to the City Council at least 35 days prior to the beginning of each fiscal year. Following City Council review and any revisions, the City Council Proposed budget is posted for a 10-day public review period. The final budget is considered for adoption at a public hearing by the City Council in June.
