FREE LUNCHES, SNACKS OFFERED DURING SUMMER BREAK
 
Free lunches and snacks will be offered this summer for children 1 - 18 years of age at the Otay Recreation Center, Parkway Community Center, the Civic Center Branch Library and South Branch Library in Chula Vista. The program coincides with the summer break for children attending Chula Vista public schools.

The lunches and snacks will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis Monday through Friday (except holidays) at the centers during the following dates and times:

Otay Recreation Center, 3554 Main St., (619) 476-5325: June 11-28 – Snacks from 3-3:30 p.m.; July 1-23 – Lunch 12:30-1:30 p.m. and Snacks from 3-3:30 p.m.

Parkway Community Center, 373 Park Way, (619) 691-5083: June 11-28 - Breakfast 8-9 a.m., Lunch 12:30-1:30 p.m.; July 1-19 – Lunch 12:30-1:30 p.m.

Civic Center Branch Library, 365 F Street, (619) 691-5069: June 11-28 – Lunch 12-1 p.m., Snacks 3-3:30 p.m

South Chula Vista Branch Library, 389 Orange Avenue, (619) 585-5755: June 11-28 – Lunch from 12-1 p.m., Snacks from 3-3:30 p.m.

Food items scheduled to be served include pizza, chicken patties, burritos, sandwiches, fruit and milk. The Summer Free Lunch Program is offered through cooperation between the U.S. Department of Agriculture Healthy Families Program, the Chula Vista Elementary School District, and the South Bay Union School District.

“We are grateful to be able to continue this service to our community for over 16 years at our recreation centers and libraries,” said Kristi McClure, Assistant Director of Recreation. “We hope it will help alleviate a portion of the country’s obesity and malnutrition rates.”
