CHULA VISTA TO HOST TWO UNIQUE CONDITIONING CAMPS

If you are still looking for a great summer camp for the athletic child in your family, the Chula Vista Recreation Department is offering two unique and challenging camps that may fit the bill.

From July 8– 12, a TOP Conditioning for Soccer camp will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Salt Creek’s indoor soccer arena. This camp provides science-based activities to maximize athletic performance on the soccer field. Participants do not need to be a soccer player and youth at any skill level are encouraged to attend. Camp instruction will be provided by SportOutlier Foundation coaches, Olympic Gold medalist Al Joyner and international sports psychologist Dr. Ross Flowers. Olympians and Olympic hopefuls will make guest appearances. Cost is $99. Participants need to wear athletic clothing and shoes as well as bring water and/or a sports drink and a light snack. Recent participants of the Spring Conditioning for Sports camp stated the camp is “truly unique and amazing.” Parents reported that the coaches were impressive as the kids were taught not only sports lessons but life lessons as well.

If basketball is more to your liking, a TOP Conditioning for Basketball camp is set for July 15-19 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. This camp will also be taught by professional coaches including Olympic and professional trainers from SportOutlier Foundation. It will be held on both the indoor and outdoor basketball courts and will emphasize relaxation, coordination, strength, focus, agility, balance and self-confidence. It is not necessary to be a basketball player to participate and youth at any skill level can attend. The camp costs $99. Attendees need to wear athletic clothing and shoes as well as bring water and/or a sports drink and a light snack.

For more information about SportOutlier Foundation and TOP camps, visit www.sportoutlier.org or call (619) 565-2777.

Both camps will be held at Salt Creek Recreation Center, 2710 Otay Lakes Road in Chula Vista. To register or for more information, please call the Center at (619) 585-5739 or visit www.chulavistaca.gov/rec.
