Open Houses set for Info on Construction Project

Beginning this fall and lasting through mid-2014, the San Diego County Water Authority will be involved in a construction project through Chula Vista. The Sweetwater to Lower Otay Pipeline Relining Project relines approximately 5.4 miles of a large water pipeline in the San Diego County Water Authority's easement.

The construction involves work Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m to 7 p.m., use of local roads for transporting materials and workers, some work-related noise, brush and tree removal as needed, and temporary sound walls around work sites. Most of the work will be done underground and accessing the pipe through designated portals or entrances where most of the construction activity will take place. The project will not affect delivery of water to homes or businesses.

Two open house sessions are planned this week in Chula Vista for residents to learn more about the project, what to expect, potential impacts and to get answers to questions. Stop by between 6 and 7:30 p.m. on either date:

Wednesday, July 17, EastLake High School, 1120 EastLake Parkway; or

Thursday, July 18, EastLake Elementary School, 1955 Hillside Drive.

If you cannot attend either meeting but would like more information about the project, go to www.sdcwa.org/SouthBayRelining, or email CIPinfo@sdcwa.org, or call (877) 682-9283, ext. 7005.
