|Keeping up with today’s constantly changing technology is important. For the past eight years, the City of Chula Vista has maintained a complex voting/graphic/audio system to record and televise its City Council meetings. The original equipment, installed when Chula Vista City Hall was built in 2005, is now receiving a much-needed upgrade. The upgraded equipment will provide faster and more detailed graphics, upgraded microphone capabilities and a state-of-the-art video and audio recording system. These features are important for the City to uphold its commitment to providing access to public meetings. In addition to live coverage and rebroadcasting of the City Council meetings on the public access television channel, archived recordings of the meetings are posted at www.chulavistaca.gov.
From October 14 through November 8, the Chula Vista Council Chambers will be closed to all meetings, workshops and events to allow the installation of new touch screen panels, microphones, display screens, and other equipment. During that period, two Chula Vista City Council meetings will be held in the Police Department’s Community Room, located at 315 Fourth Avenue. The meetings of October 15 and November 5 will be held at 2 p.m. and are open to the public. However, the temporary meeting location does not allow for streaming video capabilities or the videotaping to televise the meetings. Audio recordings of these City Council meetings will be posted to www.chulavistaca.gov within 24 hours of the meetings. Two other meetings, October 22 and November 12, are dark by Municipal Code and a November 7 workshop has been cancelled.
The regularly scheduled City Council meeting of November 19 will be held in the newly refurbished Council Chambers.
