|Chula Vista’s Recreation and Library Departments have a variety of fun activities planned around Halloween. The following are scheduled at the City’s Recreation facilities:
Loma Verde Recreation Center, 1420 Loma Lane, will have free Halloween Bingo and crafts on Wednesday, October 30, at 3 p.m.
Montevalle Recreation Center, 840 Duncan Ranch Road, is having a Little Tikes Costume Carnival on Sunday, October 27, from 5-7 p.m. For kids from walking to 6 years old; $6 per child includes arts and crafts, cookie decorating and games. Registration required; (619) 691-5269. On Wednesday, October 30, a Pumpkin Carving and Decorating Day will be held. Children ages 3-6 will use art supplies and children ages 7-12 will be provided utensils for carving. Fee is $6 per child for both activities and registration is recommended; (619) 691-5269.
Norman Park Center, 270 F Street, is hosting A Pumpkin Painting and Pie Day on Wednesday, October 30, at 11 a.m.; cost is $5 per person. On Thursday, October 31, a classic Halloween movie will be shown and treats provided for free at 1 p.m. For more information call (619) 409-1930.
Therapeutics presents a Monster Mash Halloween Bash dance on Saturday, October 26, from 7-9 p.m. at Norman Park Center located at 270 F Street. Participants are encouraged to wear a costume. Cost is $6 per person for Chula Vista residents; $10 non-residents and includes refreshments and raffle prizes. For more information call (619) 421-7032.
Otay Recreation Center, 3554 Main Street, will feature free Halloween face painting on Monday, October 14, at 2:30 p.m. A Pumpkin Workshop is scheduled for Wednesday, October 23, at 2:30 p.m.; bring your own pumpkin and we supply the rest to decorate a “spooktacular” pumpkin! Check out the Mummy Race on Tuesday, October 29, at 3 p.m. as participants use toilet paper to wrap their team mates and compete to see who can fully cover their mummy the fastest! And the best Costume Contest will be held on Thursday, October 31, at 3 p.m. Categories include funniest, cutest, scariest and most creative. Salt Creek Recreation Center, 2710 Otay Lakes Road, will have the following free activities on Thursday, October 31: Halloween Crafts at 3 p.m., Spooky Scavenger Hunt at 4 p.m. and a Costume Contest at 5 p.m.
Veterans Park Recreation Center, 785 East Palomar Street, will host Halloween Crafts on Friday, October 25, from 1-3 p.m. Free for children ages 5-13, kids can design trick or treat bags and other Halloween craft projects. Please dress in costume!

Civic Center Branch, 365 F Street, will have a Kids Haunted House Craft on Wednesday, October 16, at 4 p.m. A Teen Haunted House Craft is scheduled for Wednesday, October 23, at 4 p.m. Day of the Dead Theatre’s “Journey of the Skeletons” performance will be held Thursday, October 24, at 6:30 p.m.; this free show is intended for the entire family. Tuesday, October 29, at 6 p.m. is Halloween Story Time and Activity Fair. A Halloween Story Time and Costume Parade is scheduled for Thursday, October 31, at 11 a.m.; everyone is encouraged to wear a costume.
South Chula Vista Branch, 389 Orange Avenue, will have Kids Mummy Craft on Thursday, October 17, at 5 p.m. for kids ages 5 and up; registration is required. Call (619) 585-5755. A Teen Zombie Scars Craft is set for Thursday, October 24, at 5 p.m.; space is limited and registration is required. On Monday, October 28, at 6 p.m. there will be a Halloween Story Time Spooktacular; costumes are welcomed.
Otay Ranch Branch, 2015 Birch Road, is having Teen Zombie Scars Craft on Saturday, October 19, at 1 p.m.; space is limited; register at (619) 397-5740. Kids Mummy Craft is scheduled for Tuesday, October 22, at 4 p.m. for kids ages 5 and up; registration is recommended. A Halloween Story Time Spookatacular will be held on Tuesday, October 29, at 5 p.m.; costumes are encouraged.
