The City of Chula Vista offices and facilities will be closed on Monday, January 20, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Closures include all City recreation facilities, libraries, and offices.

Celebrate the legacy of the civil rights leader at a variety of special events including the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day parade beginning at 2 p.m. in San Diego. Participants will march along the Embarcadero from North Harbor Drive south to Pacific Highway. Other activities include the 29th annual YMCA of San Diego County Living the Dream program from 7-9 a.m. at the Town & Country Resort. Registration and breakfast begin at 6 a.m. The 18th annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Breakfast, sponsored by the United African American Ministerial Action Council, is scheduled from 7-10 a.m. at the Jacobs Center, 404 S. Euclid. For more information, call (619) 264-1213. A sixth annual interfaith Day of Service (clean up) will be held from 9-11:30 a.m. in Balboa Park Morley Field. Public safety in Chula Vista will not be affected by the holiday schedule. Emergency 9-1-1 calls and police and fire stations will provide regular daily 24-hour services. Public works services including streets and sewers will be available on an emergency-only basis.

In addition, trash service provided by Allied Waste in the city of Chula Vista will not be affected. All offices will reopen on January 21.
