With Chula Vista Public Schools on spring break from March 24-April 4, the City’s Recreation staff has planned several great activities and camps to keep the kids entertained. Some featured camps include:

Aqua Camp, scheduled March 24-28 for children ages 9-14, offers an introduction to aquatic sports such as water polo, competitive swimming, diving, and snorkeling. The classes will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Parkway Aquatic Center, 385 Park Way. In addition to the aquatic aspect, the classes will also feature junior lifeguard training with first aid and CPR techniques, and a healthy living component on how to prepare and eat healthy meals. First responders will discuss careers in Fire and Police fields. Fees are $115 per person and includes the camp, lunch and snacks.

Nothing But Sports Camp will be held March 24-28 at Parkway Community Center, 373 Park Way, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Activities include basketball, soccer, flag football, baseball and more. Fee is $100 per person for residents and $115 for non-residents and includes a free t-shirt.

Art Camp for ages 5-14 is set for March 24-27 from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at Montevalle Recreation Center, 840 Duncan Ranch Road. In addition to the fee of $50 for residents, $61 for non-residents, there is a material fee for all participants of $40.

Basketball Camp at Montevalle Recreation Center is scheduled March 24-28 for ages 6-12. Camp will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Fees are $75 for residents and $94 for non-residents.

Princess Mini Dance Camp will have two sessions for ages 4-6 at Montevalle Recreation Center: Tuesday, March 25, from 9 to 11 a.m. and Wednesday, March 26, from 9 to 11 a.m. Fees are $24 for residents and $28 for non-residents.

Other activities planned are an American Red Cross Lifeguard Training course to be held at the Loma Verde Aquatic Center, 1420 Loma Lane. This course is designed for those ages 15 and older and participants will receive certificates. Classes, with mandatory attendance on all dates, will be held March 22-29 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The $120 non-refundable fee includes book rental and the certification fee. Recreational swim will be offered March 24-April 5 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at Loma Verde from 12:30-3 p.m., and Tuesday and Thursday at Parkway from 12-2 p.m. and Saturday from 12-3 p.m. The cost is $4 for adults, $3 for seniors and $2 for children.
