The City of Chula Vista offices and facilities will be closed on Monday, May 26, in observance of Memorial Day. Closures include all city recreation centers, pools, and libraries. Public safety will not be affected by the holiday schedule. Emergency 9-1-1 calls, and police and fire stations will provide regular daily 24-hour services. Public Works Department services including streets and sewers will be available on an emergency-only basis.

Trash removal in the city of Chula Vista will be delayed one day. Those who have collection on Monday will be collected on Tuesday and so forth for the week. The Household Hazardous Waste facility will operate normally and will be open on Saturday, May 24, and Wednesday, May 28, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Local Memorial Day observances include the placing of flags along Third Avenue by the VFW Post 2111 at 7 a.m., Fort Rosecrans ceremony at 10 a.m., and Glenn Abbey Memorial Park ceremony at 10:45 a.m.

Chula Vista honors its veterans with a monument in Memorial Park, 373 Park Way, inscribed with the names of Chula Vista residents who have died in war. In addition, over 80 streets in the Sunbow, McMillin and Otay Ranch communities are named in honor of these veterans.
