SUMMER SWIM CLASSES, AQUA FIT AND MORE AT CHULA VISTA POOLS

Start your summer right by signing up for one or more of the many swimming classes available at the Chula Vista public pools! Both pools Parkway Aquatic Center at 385 Park Way, and Loma Verde Aquatic Center, 1420 Loma Lane will offer expanded summer hours from June 16 - July 26.

Loma Verde will offer adult lap swim hours Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m.; family recreation swim will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Parkway adult lap swim hours will be Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 12 to 3 p.m. and family recreation swim will be Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 12-3 p.m. The cost is $4 for adults, $3 for seniors and $2 for children.

Summer swim classes are scheduled June 16-August 29, with online priority registration beginning May 19, at 8 a.m. Walk-in registration starts May 27, from 3-6:45 p.m. Monday-Friday at either pool. Classes will be held at Loma Verde Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 3:30 to 7 p.m. Parkway classes are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Monday-Friday from 3:30-7 p.m. Fees range from $21-$35 for residents and $26-$44 for non-residents.

In addition to the regular swim classes, an Aqua Fun and Fit class is offered free of charge to children ages 9-15. Thanks to Kaiser Permanente, the class encourages healthy lifestyles while providing an opportunity to exercise and have fun in the water. Six different sessions will be offered with three each at both pools.

Also thanks to Kaiser sponsorship, returning is the popular Junior Lifeguard program at Parkway Aquatic Center. This program provides an introduction to water rescue, first aid and live saving techniques for those ages 9-14. No certification is provided, but the class is a good step to the Lifeguard Training course. Participants must be able to swim 50 yards freestyle. Class is set for June 30-July 11, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday-Friday. Cost is $60 for resident and $75 for non-resident.
