CHULA VISTA OFFICES CLOSED JULY 4

The City of Chula Vista offices and facilities will be closed on Friday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. Closures include all city recreation centers, pools, and libraries.

Public safety will not be affected by the holiday schedule. Chula Vista’s Police department and Fire stations will provide regular services. Public Works services including streets and sewers will be available on an emergency-only basis.

Looking for a unique way to spend the morning? Join the Chula Vista Firefighter’s Foundation (CVFF) for their Sixth Annual Pancake Breakfast. Stop by Fire Station Seven, located at 1640 Santa Venetia Street, from 8-11 a.m. Firefighters will be serving their famous Fourth of July pancakes, sausages, hash browns, coffee and juice. There is a $5 suggested donation and all proceeds will go to the CVFF to support fire safety, community programs and encourage fire suppression careers. Parking is available at Otay Ranch High School, 1250 Olympic Parkway, a few short blocks away from Station Seven. The event includes fire engine and truck displays and games for kids.

And in the evening, you can catch Port of San Diego’s “Big Bay Boom Fireworks.” Four barges in San Diego Bay will launch the pyrotechnics beginning at 9 p.m. and the show will last approximately 17 minutes. Prime viewing locations include Shelter Island, Harbor Island, North and South Embarcadero, Marina District, Seaport Village, and the Coronado Ferry Landing. There will be a music radio simulcast on The Walrus 105.7 FM beginning at 8:50 p.m. Or watch live television starting at 8 p.m. on Fox 5 San Diego.

Trash removal in the city of Chula Vista will be delayed one day. Those who have collection on Friday will be collected on Saturday. The Household Hazardous Waste facility will be open normal hours on Wednesday, July 2, and Saturday, July 5, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
