San Diego Bay Watershed
A watershed is an area of land that drains to a creek, river, bay, or ocean. Watersheds can cross jurisdictional, municipal, county, state, and national boundaries. We all live in a watershed and it is our responsibility to protect our watershed and its natural resources.
The San Diego Bay watershed is comprised of three smaller watersheds: Pueblo San Diego, Sweetwater, and Otay. The City of Chula Vista lies in both the Sweetwater and Otay watersheds. The City, along with 9 other jurisdictions in the San Diego Bay watershed, works to protect water quality through strategic planning and collaboration in educational activities, water quality monitoring, and source identification and load reduction of pollutants.
