Home Upgrade, Carbon Downgrade Program
Appliance Exchange Rebates
Community members can save money when purchasing new high-efficiency refrigerators, freezers, clothes washers, dishwashers, water heaters, or heating/air conditioning systems. In order to receive the $20-$200 instant rebate, the new appliances must:
- Meet certain energy & water efficiency standards
- Be purchased at a participating Chula Vista appliance store
- Be installed at a Chula Vista address (limit 1 appliance of each category per address)
- Replace an existing inefficient appliance which is then recycled

Federal Tax Credits for Consumer Energy Efficiency
If you purchase an energy-efficient product or renewable energy system for your home, you may be eligible for a federal tax credit. What is included in the Tax Credit? Heating, Ventilating, Air Conditioning (HVAC Systems), Water heaters, Windows and Doors Insulation, Roofs and Biomass Stoves.

Building Efficiency Retrofits & Financing

In summer 2010, the City will be launching the broader Home Upgrade, Carbon Downgrade Program to provide streamlined contracting, permitting, and financing for energy and water efficieny retrofits and solar energy installations in the community.
