Special Services: Apartments/Condos

Free Bulky Item Collection Service

Ask your apartment manager or association representative to schedule FREE collection of bulky items by calling Republic Services at (619) 421-9400.  Bulky items will be picked up from one designated collection point at each complex.
 
Difficult-to-handle items over 60 pounds that cannot be handled with a hand truck will be picked up for an additional charge.

Free bulky items service includes non-hazardous, non--infectious household bulky items such as:

• Empty propane tanks • Scrap metal
• Washers or dryers • Refrigerators
• Lawn furniture • Sofas
• Chairs  • Mattresses
• Barbeques • Appliances

Holiday tree recycling

Holiday Tree Recycling

Contact your apartment manager or association to find out when a pick-up is scheduled at your complex.

Apartment managers or association directors can call Republic Services at (619) 421-9400 to schedule free collection services.

To prepare your tree for recycling or disposal:
            • Remove all ornaments, tinsel, and garland
            • Take tree out of plastic or metal stands
            • Cut the tree so that each portion is 4 feet or less. 

Plastic trees are not recyclable and must be disposed of as a bulky item.

Cooking Oil Recycling

Take your oil to the Household Hazardous Waste Drop-off Facility* located at 1800 Maxwell Road on Saturdays from 9am to 1pm (except holiday weekends).

* The facility will only accept oil from residential users. Oil must be strained to remove large food particles. Cooking oil contaminated with toxic or hazardous material or oil that is stored in a container that held hazardous material will not be accepted.
