Sewer Bill Payments
The City of Chula Vista bills Sweetwater Authority water customers for sewer service. Customers in the northern part of the city receive a bi-monthly bill directly from the City of Chula Vista Finance Department and customers in the southern part of the city are billed for sewer service on their property tax bill. Customers in the Otay Water District are billed for sewer service on their monthly water bill.
Sweetwater Authority Customers
Sweetwater Authority Billing Update: We apologize for the delay in sewer service billing. This was due to a combination of technical issues and staffing shortages that are now resolved. To get caught up on sewer billing, customers will receive monthly bills from July to October 2018. Customers are not being charged a “lump sum” for the delay in billing. Staff will work with sewer customers to develop payment plans if needed and customers will not be charged late fees until sewer billing is back on a regular bi-monthly schedule. If you are a Sweetwater Authority water customer receiving a bi-monthly sewer bill from the City of Chula Vista, you may pay your bill by mail, ONLINE, or in person at 276 Fourth Avenue, Chula Vista, CA, 91910, Monday - Thursday, 9 am to 4 pm, Friday from 9 am to 12 noon. An after hours drop box is also provided for your convenience.
Online payments (one-time and recurring) are available for Sweetwater Authority customers receiving a bi-monthly bill from the City of Chula Vista through our ONLINE sewer payment service.

Otay Water District Customers
If you are an Otay Water District customer your monthly water bill includes your charge for sewer services. You may pay your bill by mail, ONLINE, or in person at 2554 Sweetwater Springs Blvd, Spring Valley, CA 91978, Monday - Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. Visit the Otay Water District website to learn more.
The City of Chula Vista Finance Department assists in the collection of unpaid trash accounts. Republic Services forwards delinquent accounts to the City for processing and collection. If the City's attempts to collect are unsuccessful and the accounts remain delinquent, the City places a lien on the affected properties and ultimately the unpaid charges are placed on the property tax bills for collection.
NOTE: If you have received a notice from the City requesting payment on a delinquent trash bill, you must make your payment to the City of Chula Vista, 276 Fourth Avenue, Chula Vista, CA, 91910. Please do not pay Republic Services directly as this delinquent portion of your account has been assigned to the City for collection.
The City of Chula Vista bills Sweetwater Authority water customers for sewer service. Upon establishing water service, the City will process your bi-monthly sewer bill independent of the water company. If you would like to open or close your account, please contact Sweetwater Authority at (619) 420-1413. The City will then send a final closing bill upon notification by Sweetwater Authority that the account is now closed.
