The City of Chula Vista Recreation Department offers Therapeutic Recreation programming for individuals with developmental and/or physical disabilities. Our classes are specifically designed for individuals with special needs and are intended to promote an active and healthy lifestyle, improve physical abilities, build confidence, strengthen interpersonal skills and foster friendships. We offer a wide range of classes and special events which include sports, fitness & exercise, learn to swim, dance and educational classes. Check out our current program guide below.

A full listing of Therapeutic classes and descriptions are available through our Online Registration System!

A related service area that is not widely known but is very important for our community to be aware of is Inclusion. Inclusion is a philosophy that supports children with disabilities to participate in all citywide programs, activities and day camps with their peers. We support reasonable accommodations in accordance with ADA with 1:1 Inclusion aides as necessary for successful participation. Our goal is to enrich the lives of all who participate and to increase understanding and acceptance of disabilities as a natural part of life. A two-week advance notice is required to complete an assessment and to assign an aide if required.

For more information, please contact Carmel Wilson C.T.R.S., Recreation Supervisor at (619) 409-5439.
