RESIDENTS INVITED TO HEAR ABOUT DRAFT CHULA VISTA BUDGET FOR FY 2019
General Fund, Capital Improvement Program, and Measure P budgets to be presented
The City of Chula Vista is developing the Fiscal Year 2018-19 budget that funds important City services including public safety, public works, library, recreation, parks, economic development, street improvements, conservation, maintenance, and more. The budget also includes the proposed Measure P allocations. Measure P is the City’s temporary, half-cent sales tax for infrastructure that was approved by voters in 2016. These funds support repairing or replacing infrastructure in the City including streets; parks; public safety equipment, vehicles and buildings; recreation centers; libraries; storm drains; and other infrastructure.
Two workshops will be held to present elements of the draft Fiscal Year 2019 budget. Come hear about the Chula Vista General Funds and Measure P budgets and proposed funding for services and capital projects (Capital Improvement Program or CIP).
Open to the public, the 2018 Budget Workshops will be held on Wednesday, May 9, at 5:30 p.m. in Council Chambers, 276 Fourth Avenue, and Thursday, May 10, at 6:30 p.m. at the Otay Ranch Town Center Library HUB Community Room, 2015 Birch Road, Suite 409 (near the Food Pavilion).
Staff will present an overview of funding resources, a ten-year financial forecast, and describe the process for developing a balanced budget that will be presented to the City Council on May 22. The same information will be provided at both workshops. Residents also can view budget information at www.chulavistaca.gov/budget.
