Lane Closures Along I-805 South Corridor This Week
Beginning this week, intermittent lane and ramp closures will take place along Interstate 805 (I-805) South in preparation for the construction of five sound wall segments as part of the I-805 South Corridor Enhancement Projects.
An overnight closure will be in place on Tuesday, September 18, from 9 p.m. – 5 a.m., to allow crews to install K-rail along I-805 South. The Bonita Road on-ramp to I-805 South and the off-ramp to East H Street from I-805 South will be closed during this time.
In addition, the right lane of the East H Street on-ramp to I-805 South will be closed weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. during the week of September 17. During this work, access to the on-ramp will be available, but motorists can expect reduced lanes widths and potential traffic delays.
Residents adjacent to I-805 South between Bonita Road and East H Street can expect intermittent construction noise and lights during these closures. Construction crews will work to minimize impacts to nearby businesses, residents, and commuters. During construction, motorists are reminded to slow down. Not only is it required by law, it helps save lives. We appreciate your patience during construction.
About the Project
The I-805 South Corridor Enhancement Projects include the construction of sound walls, and bridge and safety improvements to the Sweetwater River Bridge. The projects build upon the I-805 South Express Lanes Project, a $1.4 billion effort to create a modern new transportation backbone for South County. The improvements will help alleviate congestion, improve traffic flow, and enhance the quality of life for residents along this segment of the I-805 corridor.
