CHULA VISTA PUBLIC LIBRARY UPGRADES BEGIN MONDAY
Measure P Funds New Library Roof
Two important projects will soon begin at the Chula Vista Civic Center Branch Library located at 365 F Street. The roof of the library will be completely replaced and lighted solar parking canopies erected.
Beginning Monday, October 22, visitors will notice construction fencing in the east parking lot which will close approximately 80 parking spaces. This lot will remain closed through the duration of the solar project with the exception of Election Day. No construction will occur on Election Day, November 6, as the Civic Center Branch Library is a polling place for voters. Following Election Day, all 80 parking spaces will be re-closed.
In addition, entrance to the library parking lot via Garrett Avenue will be closed. All visitors will enter and exit from F Street during the construction phase. This solar project is made possible by a Clean Renewable Energy Bond.
The roof replacement will begin on Monday, October 29, with the removal of contaminated materials by workers in protective clothing. The materials being removed are not a health concern to the public. Re-roofing of the library will use existing clay tiles making it an environmentally friendly project. Funding for the roof replacement is made possible by Measure P.
During the construction projects, one of the two library entrances may be temporarily closed but visitors will have access to the other entrance. Construction will occur Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Both projects are expected to be completed by the end of the year.
