CHULA VISTA TO WELCOME NEW AND RE-ELECTED OFFICIALS DECEMBER 11
On Tuesday, December 11, at 5 p.m., the Chula Vista City Council will certify the results of the November election naming the re-election of the Mayor, City Attorney, District 1 representative and election of a new District 2 representative. A regular council meeting will be held from 5 p.m. to approximately 6 p.m. District 2 Councilmember Patricia Aguilar is termed out as a councilmember and will be saying farewell.
Councilmember Aguilar has been actively involved in the City serving on the City Council since 2010 and was instrumental in bringing back the annual Starlight Parade to Chula Vista. In addition, she participated in the City of Chula Vista and the Southwestern College Governing Board joint task force to explore a University Center concept for South County and served on the SANDAG Bayshore Bikeway Working Group.
At 6 p.m., re-elected officials Mayor Mary Casillas Salas, City Attorney Glen Googins, and Councilmember John McCann, representing District 1, will take the oath of office. Also, Councilmember-Elect Jill Galvez, representing District 2, will take the oath of office. Following the ceremony, everyone is invited to a reception in the main lobby of City Hall, 276 Fourth Avenue.
Galvez, a 26-year resident of Chula Vista, is.a small business owner, after having a successful career in the technology industry with IBM, AT&T, and FastBlue Communications. She will represent the northwest district in the City.
Public parking for the ceremony is available in the Employee Lot west of Fire Station #1 and in the three-level Third Avenue Parking Garage, off F Street near Marie Callendar’s restaurant.
