RESIDENTS INVITED TO HEAR ABOUT DRAFT CHULA VISTA BUDGET FOR FY 2020
General Fund, Capital Improvement Program, and Measures A and P budgets to be presented.
The City of Chula Vista is developing the Fiscal Year 2019-20 budget that funds important City services including public safety, public works, library, recreation, parks, economic development, street improvements, conservation, maintenance, and more. The budget also includes the proposed Measures A and P allocations. Measure A was approved by voters in 2018 and implemented a half-cent sales tax to support public safety staffing. Measure P is the City’s temporary, half-cent sales tax for infrastructure that was approved by voters in 2016.
Two workshops will be held to present elements of the draft Fiscal Year 2020 budget. Come hear about the Chula Vista General Funds and Measures A and P budgets and proposed funding for services and capital projects (Capital Improvement Program or CIP).
Open to the public, the 2020 Budget Workshops will be held on Wednesday, May 15, at 5:30 p.m. at the Civic Center Library Auditorium, 365 F Street, and Thursday, May 16, at 5:30 p.m. at the Otay Ranch Town Center Library HUB Community Room, 2015 Birch Road, Suite 409 (near the Food Pavilion).
Staff will present an overview of funding resources, a ten-year financial forecast, and describe the process for developing a balanced budget that will be presented to the City Council on May 21. The same information will be provided at both workshops. Residents also can view budget information at www.chulavistaca.gov/budget.
