Beginning January 12, 2020, the Chula Vista Heritage Museum will open a new exhibit entitled, RUTH: Remember Us The Holocaust, featuring Holocaust survivors who settled in the South Bay. The museum is located in the Civic Center Branch Library at 365 F Street. Included in the year-long exhibit will be monthly activities with speakers, documentaries, featured books, and activities.

Twelve South Bay residents will be featured in the museum including Ruth Sax, a Holocaust survivor who devoted time to the community by teaching about the Holocaust in local schools and colleges. She was honored as Woman of the Year in San Diego, inducted into the San Diego Women's Hall of Fame, named a Woman of Valor in San Diego County and received her honorary degree from Southwestern College as a humanitarian and educator. Sax passed away in December 2018 at age 90. Her daughter, Sandra Scheller, will conduct personal tours of the exhibit to schools.

The free exhibit is the first Holocaust exhibit in San Diego County and will be open during regular library hours Monday-Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.
