COMMUNITY WORKSHOP TO PRESENT DRAFT DIGITAL EQUITY AND INCLUSION PLAN

The City of Chula Vista invites the public to attend an interactive workshop for the release of the draft Digital Equity and Inclusion Plan on Wednesday, January 29, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Civic Center Branch Library, 365 F Street.

The City recognizes the growing importance of online connections with business, education, and employment activities increasingly offered online. The City of Chula Vista offers a number of services for residents online, including online payments, permitting requests, class registration, an interactive data map, and other services and information. The City is interested in continuing to lead the way on digital equity and inclusion initiatives.

With this plan, the City has prioritized ensuring that all residents have equal access to connectivity, devices and digital literacy. The Plan identifies where the digital divide exists, who it impacts, how to address the divide, and develop strategies and opportunities to make access more equitable in Chula Vista.

This inaugural plan includes proposed strategies to address the local digital divide including:

  • Access to devices
  • Access to Internet connectivity
  • Access to digital literacy programs

Check-in for the free workshop will begin at 5:30 p.m. Please register by Friday, January 24, at www.chulavistaca.gov/smartcity.
