A Favor for Freddie is teaming up with Reasons to Wag and the Chula Vista Police Department (CVPD) for their second drive-thru pet pantry to provide free bags of dog/cat food. The pet food distribution will take place from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 16, at Southwestern College, 900 Otay Lakes Road in Chula Vista.

Many are struggling during the COVID-19 crisis. To help alleviate the issue of feeding their pets, and potential abandonment of those pets, the free pet food give-away is intended for those in need. Each vehicle will receive one bag of dog or one bag of cat food.

Pet owners will enter the Southwestern College campus from East H Street and will not need to exit their vehicle. Volunteers will place one bag of food in the vehicle trunk/truck bed. Chula Vista Police officers will be providing traffic control and the CVPD K-9 unit will be in attendance, along with volunteers from the Chula Vista Animal Care Facility. Organizers will have approximately 800 bags of dog food and 200 bags of cat food for distribution.

A Favor for Freddie is a 501©(3) non-profit foundation motivated by a dog that they believed could change the world, and guided by the principle of keeping his ball rolling by inspiring acts of kindness. “More so now than ever, people are realizing pets are a source of comfort, love and stress reduction,” said Executive Director Janelle Kaneshiro. “We want to make sure that their best friends will be taken care of.”  For more information about A Favor for Freddie, visit their website at
