The City of Chula Vista and its Human Relations Commission invite residents to attend the inaugural Human Relations Commission Awards Ceremony, launching of a new annual tradition that celebrates individuals, organizations, and youth whose efforts help build a more connected, inclusive, and welcoming community.
The ceremony will bring together City leaders, Human Relations Commissioners, community partners, award recipients, their families, and residents from across Chula Vista to recognize local leadership that strengthens the fabric of the community and reflects shared values of respect, understanding, and belonging. This first-ever event was created to highlight meaningful contributions that foster inclusion and uplift the community.
Honorees were selected through a community-driven nomination process and carefully reviewed by the Human Relations Commission Awards Subcommittee in partnership with City staff. The awards aim to shine light on the everyday leadership taking place throughout Chula Vista and to celebrate the positive impact these individuals and organizations have made.
In addition to recognizing this year’s recipients, the inaugural awards ceremony is intended to inspire residents by sharing their stories while encouraging the community to begin thinking about future nominations. The City and the Human Relations Commission hope the event will build momentum for continued community engagement and appreciation of those making a meaningful difference.
The event is open to the public. Community members are invited to attend a reception on Tuesday, January 6, at 4 p.m., followed by a formal award presentation during the City Council meeting at 5 p.m. Both events will take place at Chula Vista City Hall, located at 276 Fourth Avenue.
The City and the Human Relations Commission look forward to welcoming the community to this inaugural celebration and to continuing this tradition in the years to come.
