BAYFRONT SHUTTLE SUMMER HOURS

Post Date:05/11/2026 12:51 PM

The City of Chula Vista is making it even easier for residents and visitors to explore its scenic waterfront this summer. The Chula Vista Bayfront Shuttle is expanding service hours on its Green Line and introducing new features to enhance rider convenience and accessibility.

Beginning this summer, the Green Line will operate daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., extending evening access to the bayfront and surrounding communities. The Blue Line will continue to run from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. To accommodate growing demand, the City is also adding a fifth all-electric shuttle to the fleet, increasing service capacity and reducing wait times.

The shuttle now offers live tracking, allowing passengers to view real-time arrival and departure information directly on the City website. This new feature provides up-to-date scheduling information, reducing uncertainty and making public transportation a more dependable option.

The Chula Vista Bayfront Shuttle provides no-cost, emissions-free rides connecting the shoreline to key destinations, including the Living Coast Discovery Center, Downtown Chula Vista, Chula Vista Center, residential communities, parks and existing trolley stations. Each electric shuttle van is fully equipped to meet ADA accessibility needs, ensuring inclusive transportation for all riders.

Since launching in June 2025, the shuttle has experienced steady growth in ridership. Usage has consistently increased in the months since, surpassing 16,000 total rides as of March 2026.

"We’re excited to expand Bayfront Shuttle service just in time for summer, with longer hours, added capacity, and new real-time tracking to better serve our community,” said Mayor John McCann. “This free, emissions-free service makes it easier for residents and visitors to explore the bayfront while supporting local businesses and a more connected, sustainable Chula Vista."

The shuttle program is a central feature of the Chula Vista Bayfront Master Plan’s Public Access Program, which emphasizes the public’s right to shoreline access and supports a robust network of pedestrian, bicycle, transit and auto connections. The City of Chula Vista is proud to partner with the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) to deliver this vital community service.
