Apply Now for Southwest Leaderís Conference
 
The City will wrap up its official Southwest United in Action community outreach effort with a six-week leadership-training conference that begins next month.  Participants in the May/June Southwest Leader’s Conference will be able to develop leadership skills, learn more about local resources and opportunities, and network with other active community members. Download an application at www.chulavistaca.gov or pick up a copy at Otay or Lauderbach recreation centers or the South Chula Vista branch library.

Applications are due April 29 and can be dropped off or mailed to: Carla Blackmar, City of Chula Vista Redevelopment Agency, 276 Fourth Avenue, Chula Vista, CA, 91910.  

Over the past year, the City of Chula Vista has been working in partnership with local service providers, businesses and residents to strengthen the community in the southwestern area of the city. The effort, known as Southwest United in Action, provided residents with a forum to share their ideas about improving local neighborhoods.   

The leadership conference, an event that caps the yearlong Southwest United in Action initiative, will include six evening sessions in May and June that run from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Each of the six sessions will address an area of interest to the Southwest community and will provide important information on a variety of subjects such as planning, public safety, public health, and communications. Discussion among participants will provide opportunities to hone public speaking and networking skills.

Sessions are scheduled on the following Mondays and Wednesdays at a Southwest location that will be announced soon.

  • Wednesday, May 20
  • Wednesday, May 27
  • Monday, June 1
  • Monday, June 8
