The City of Chula Vista is accepting applications for the South Bay Wildlife Advisory Group through 5 p.m., Tuesday, November 30. To be eligible, applicants must be at least 18 years old, Chula Vista residents and registered voters.

The Chula Vista Bayfront Master Plan Settlement Agreement outlined the establishment of a Wildlife Advisory Group (WAG) to advise the Port/City/Redevelopment Agency on the development of the Natural Resource Management Plan (NRMP) to ensure protection of wildlife and natural resources. WAG will consist of 26 members. The City will designate persons to fill four seats as follows: one Commissioner from the City’s Resource Conservation Commission nominated by the Commission and confirmed by the City Council, one resident from the Northwest area (North of L St., West of Otay Lakes Rd), one resident from the Southwest area (South of L St., West of La Media Rd) and one resident from the Eastern area of Chula Vista (East of Otay Lakes Rd / La Media Rd). The meeting schedule for the WAG has not yet been determined, but members will meet as needed and at a minimum of every six months for the first ten years and annually thereafter.

The application and information is available online at www.chulavistaca.gov/goto/wildlifeadvisorygroup or at the City Clerk's office, 276 Fourth Avenue.

Each applicant must submit to the City Clerk’s office a completed application and resume by U.S. Mail, hand delivery or email to CityClerk@ci.chula-vista.ca.us. Applications will not be accepted without a resume and after 5 p.m., November 30.

All applications and resumes will be forwarded to the Mayor and City Council who will submit the name/names of applicants they want to interview. Applicants receiving two or more nominations will be scheduled for an interview.

Applicants will be interviewed by the City Council in a public meeting, tentatively scheduled for December 9. When interviews have ended, the City Council will deliberate its selections in public. Selected applicants must receive at least three confirming votes.

For more information please contact Jennifer Quijano in the Mayor and Council office at jquijano@chulavistaca.gov or call (619) 409-5812.
