|The Port of San Diego invites members of the public to witness a historic, long-anticipated event - the implosion of the South Bay Power Plant, which has been a fixture on the Chula Vista bayfront since the late 1950s.
Public viewing areas have been designated on the south side of Marina Way in Chula Vista to provide a safe place to watch the carefully executed implosion and enjoy newfound views of the horizon. The implosion, which will cause the structure to collapse, will take less than two minutes and will sound like rolling thunder.
The implosion is scheduled, conditions permitting, for Saturday, February 2, 2013, at 7 a.m.

A limited amount of public parking will be available. See the map for public viewing under "Featured Focus" on the City website (read flyer).
