|Residents and employees of the City of Chula Vista are cheering for the Eastlake Little League All-Star team who continue their run through the Little League Baseball World Series tournament in Williamsport, PA. The entire city sends its support to the players, coaches and parents as they head into a pivotal game tomorrow against New England – a game that could give Eastlake the top seed in the United States Championship and move them one step closer to the World Series Championship.
“This is an exciting time for the players and parents of Eastlake Little League,” said Chula Vista Mayor Cheryl Cox. “Even though we can’t be there in the stands, we want the team to know we are cheering for them here at home as they go through this once-in-a-lifetime experience. These student athletes worked hard to get where they are, and we are proud of their accomplishments.”
Eastlake Little League is the second team from Chula Vista to go to the Little League World Series, following Park View Little League’s World Championship win in 2009.
Game time is 5 p.m. PST on ESPN tomorrow, August 21. Residents are encouraged to participate in viewing parties at various restaurants around Chula Vista. Fans can also follow the team’s progress on their official Facebook page at www.facebook.com/eastlakelittleleague.
